"The Higher School International College – Albena (ICA) was established in September 1992 under a joint Bulgarian – Dutch PSO project for cooperation of the Dutch government with Central and Eastern European countries. On April 2, 1998, the Accreditation Council of the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation awarded initial institutional accreditation to International College – Albena. Subsequently, the new higher education school was approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria (Ordinance dated 23.08.1998) and opened, following a decision of the Bulgarian Parliament dated 05.05.1999 (The State Gazette 44/1999).

At present, International University College is an independent higher education private business school. It has been granted institutional accreditation by the National Agency of Evaluation and Accreditation in Bulgaria and operates as a self-managed entity. It is specialized in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, and International Economics & Information Systems. Consequently, it provides professional education and training in these realms to students who meet and have been approved according to the admission requirements. The course of study continues for 3 years. After successful completion of the study programme, students receive 210 European Credits and are awarded an internationally recognized "Bachelor degree" diploma in the specialty they have been following, as stipulated by the Bulgarian legislation. Moreover, students can DIRECTLY continue their education in Bulgaria or abroad given the fact that the European Credits they have received provide them with full right to graduate in any European Institution.
