The Ministry of Economy, among other things, aims to:
- Stimulate macroeconomic stability and economic growth;
- Create a predictable and transparent legal and regulatory environment;
- Encourage growth in the rural economy;
- Create competitive advantage in industries;
- Promote diversification of exports;
- Create an attractive and predictable investment climate;
- Reconceptualise the infrastructure;
- Ensure energy security and energy efficiency.
The Directorate General for Energy Efficiency and Security is mandated to:
- promote renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency as well as thermal gasification,
- improve the legislative framework,
- coordinate the management of exploration and exploitation of oil and gas as well as the management of the pipeline construction and the underground fuel tanks,
- implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
The Directorate is sub divided into three units:
- Department of energy infrastructure;
- Department of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources;
- Department of heat production and supply.
