The main goals of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine are to form and provide:
• state agrarian policy directed towards the development of agro-industrial complex and providing the state food security;
• state policy in agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, seed farming, hatchery farming, viticulture, food and processing industry, engineering and technical support in agro-industrial complex and agricultural machine building, agricultural advisory activity;
• state policy in fishery and fish industry, water protection, using and reproduction, fish controlling and security of seafaring of merchant vessels of fishery; veterinary medicine, food and forage security in spheres of quarantine and plant protection, protection of rights of type of plants;
• state policy regarding the questions of land relationships, topographic, geodesic and cartographic activity, forestry and hunting, quality and security agricultural products, seeding material, biologic and genetic security of crops and animals, soil fertility.
