The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the central public authority responsible for the implementation of the strategy and governmental program, for the development and implementation of national strategies in the field of agriculture and food production, rural development, fisheries and aquaculture, land improvements, and related areas.
The main tasks of the General Direction for Rural Development are:
• to coordinate and follow the implementation of the governmental programme in the sector for rural development;
• to develop national regulations, specific strategies and policies for rural development in compliance with the national and European legislation;
• to ensure the implementation of the Rural Development Program 2007 - 2013 and Rural Development Programme for 2014-2020;
• to ensure the management and implementation of financial assistance provided by EU funds for rural development and other international organizations and funding instruments.
