Menemen Soil and Water Resources Research Institute
Menemen Soil and Water Resources Research Institute (MSWRRI) is an establishment has been carrying out research activities to improve, conserve and use efficiently of soil and water resources in Aegean Region of Turkey since 1949. The working area of Institute is coastal region and interior valleys in passing districts of Aegean Region with seven provinces. MTSKAE has been carrying out the research activities at four main disciplines which are; water management (crop water consumption and requirement, irrigation techniques, irrigation network performance, simulation models, soil physics, constructed wetlands etc.), catchments management (hydrology, precipitation-runoff relations, soil and water conservation), soil management (soil fertility, organic agriculture, fertilization, soil microbiology, sludge treatment, agro-ecological zoning), and investment management (agricultural economics, management, and machinery). The Institute has an automated agro-meteorology station measuring the climatic parameters such as Temperature, Solar radiation, Relative humidity, Wind Speed and direction, Evaporation, Atmospheric Pressure and Precipitation. The Institute embodies the Soil - Plant - Water - Manure and Microbiology laboratories to serve research activities, farmers and other foundations. In addition, The RS and GIS laboratory was established and it was supported with many equipments and software to process satellite images and make analysis of Geographical Information System for research projects and other purposes.
