IMPEER's participation in FP7 embraces more than 12 international projects. Relevant for the Danube-INCO.NET: Umweltstiftung WWF Deutschland "Actual situation of shipping business in UA-Black Sea, with special relation to Danube river", 2006; "Second stage of capacity to support biodiversity," stage "Incentive measures for sustainable use of resources", 2002 - 2003; TACIS project Standards for environmental management in the enterprise of Ukraine", 2002 - 2004; and many more. In April 2010 the Working Group on the development of the Danube Region was created within the Public Expert Council at the Ukrainian part of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Committee. The Working Group was formed and functioned with the support of the European Program of International Renaissance Foundation within the project "Stimulating the Ukrainian public to participate in realization of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region" realized in cooperation with IMPEER NASU. The project also envisages the development of a public vision of Ukraine's participation in EUSDR.

The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) is the highest state-supported research organization founded in 1918. The basic units in NASU structure are research institutes, centers, or any other entities. Annually they execute more than 2,000 research projects by State budget funding and more for other funders including STCU, EU FPs, ESA, UNESCO etc. The annual editor's activity covers over 20,000 research papers in special journals, 25% of them are in foreign editions. Annually more than 700 scientific forums (conferences, symposia, workshops) are carried out where NASU institutes perform as organisers or co-organisers. The Institute of Market Problems and Economic & Ecological Research (IMPEER) is one of the main research institutions of NASU founded in 1970. The Institute has a staff of 120 employees (25 have a degree of professors, 60 researchers PhD). The principal task of the Institute is to conduct fundamental and applied research aimed at the developing and refining theoretical fundamentals, forming scientific and applied aspects of the strategy of sustainable social, environmental and economic development of Ukraine, novel tactical and policy system solutions for increasing competitiveness of the economy of the Ukrainian Black Sea Region and the Ukrainian Danube Region.
