[Event Review] EaPEC 2016 – 1st Eastern Partnership conference on e-infrastructure
The first European Eastern Partnership e-Infrastructure conference was held in Tbilisi on 6-7 October 2016.

The number of leading European projects and results of investigations performed using e-infrastructure were presented during the conference, in the fields of Information Technology, environment, biology, telemedicine and other scientific areas. Additionally, a special session was devoted to the research conducted at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
More than 100 experts from 20 countries participated in the conference.
During the first session of the conference, the Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava, the General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Marine Chitashvili, and a member of European Commission Directorate (via video call) Laurence Meredith addressed the participants. Representatives of the Office of State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the University of Georgia also welcomed participants of the conference.
The event was organized by the European Commission within the scope of its EaPConnect project, by the Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association GRENA and the University of Georgia. Conference was held at the University of Georgia.
