INOGATE to host second Energy Policy Talk in Ukraine
The EU-funded INOGATE Programme will host on 3 February 2016 in Kyiv a second Energy Policy Talk in a series of discussions that aim to address energy issues in Ukraine. The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine, Hennadiy Zubko, senior figures from the country’s energy ministries, as well as representatives of the EU Delegation and the European Commission will open the event.

According to INOGATE, this Energy Policy Talk will discuss energy efficiency (EE), the financial resources required to make energy savings as well as the role of the public sector in purchasing EE products. The list of topics also includes the need for accurate metering and billing to create appropriate incentives for energy savings as well as raising awareness among investors and consumers.
Ukraine’s draft Updated Energy Strategy proposes to reduce energy intensity by 30% to 35% by 2030, with an increase in energy consumption, reports INOGATE.
INOGATE is a regional cooperation programme between the European Union and 11 Partner Countries in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. It covers the following countries: Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
